Mr. Don Kelly is the Chief Executive Officer of The Garrett Group. Prior to assuming the CEO position, he oversaw the company’s operations and financial execution for a decade.
Kelly’s military career was distinguished by 27 years of service as a United States Air Force officer. His responsibilities encompassed flying tours in the RC-135 and B-1B aircraft, accumulating over 4,400 flying hours. He was a Joint Specialty Officer and was selected for operational command. He graduated from the United States Marine Corps’ School of Advanced Warfighting and the Air War College, retiring from the Air Force at the rank of Colonel.
Throughout his career, Kelly has received numerous awards and accolades for his accomplishments, including Distinguished Graduate for KC-135 Initial Qualification Training and Squadron Officer School, Military Officer of the Year for the United States Pacific Command, Papillion La Vista High School Hall of Fame induction, and the Sarpy County Chamber’s Elected Official of the Year.
Currently, Kelly is a politically elected Sarpy County Commissioner serving his 13th year. In this capacity, he oversees all county operations and business-related activities for the fastest-growing county in Nebraska. Additionally, he has served on the Coordinating Council of the Learning Community of Douglas and Sarpy Counties and as the Sarpy County Board’s chairman for seven years. Since 2018, Kelly has also held the position of Chairman on the Sarpy County and Cities Wastewater Agency.
Kelly actively participates in various civic organizations, serving as an emeritus Board member for the 55th Wing Association and the Board of Directors for Region Six Behavioral Healthcare and the Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging.
Mr. Kelly holds two Master of Science degrees and graduated from the University of Nebraska with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
